Luciano Piergiovanni is Professor of Conditioning and Distribution of food products Technologies at University of Milan. He is Chairman of the Teaching Coordination Board at Food Science and Technology faculty. Since 1975, he works as a teacher and a researcher at DISTAM, the Food Sciences and Technologies Department in Milan. Member of Italian Packaging Institute Directive Board (from 1898 to 1991), he was vie president of this organisation in 1985-86. He coordinated the Subcommittee UNI “Food conditioning” from 1989 to 1994. He was coordinator of both national and international Research Units. He was Professor at Universities of San Paolo (Brazil) in 1990 and 1995 and Santafé (Colombia) in 1986 and 1995. He was Treasurer and Vice President of AITA, the Italian Association of Food Technology until 200. Since 1999 he is coordinator of GSICA (Italian Scientific Group of food Packaging). He is member of the Editorial Board of important reviews like "Packaging Technology and Science", "Industria delle conserve" and "Brazilian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences". He wrote about 200 works (scientific and technical issues). His research focuses mainly on perishable foods packed in altered atmosphere, models and provisions of shelf life in flexible packages, plus developing and testing new packaging materials and techniques.
Matteo Alessandro Del Nobile works as a lecturer at the University of Foggia. His research focuses mainly on polymers mass diffusion and projects in food packaging systems. Many of his studies concern the connection between chemical and physical proprieties of polymers and their barrier characteristics. He has both experimental and theoretic know-how (with special regard to developing mathematical models to analyze the diffusion of low-weight molecular substances in polymers). He wrote more than one hundred publications about both polymers science and food technologies.
Architect and designer, Anna Meroni is a researcher in industrial design. Her activity is focused on product system innovation, concentrating on food systems. She is a project research and strategical innovation consultant for many universities, research centres and industries. She is founder of "Studio design" and a teacher of Industrial Design at Politecnico of Milan. Also, she teaches in international masters and workshops.
Gianluigi Vestrucci was the leader of Chemical Physical and Microbiology Department at the CSI Spa, where he was also in charge for Guarantee of Quality. He is an expert in food packaging, with special regard to materials and packaging systems. Through his expertise he got many qualifications, as Responsible for inspective tests in quality systems and as Inspector for products certification. He is member of Italian Packaging institute and lecturer at the University of Parma, Faculty of Chemistry. Now he works as a professional consultant in cooperation with Pack-co srl a consultant agency about food and no food packaging.
